The new buses completed their rollout on 26 January and are part of a wider initiative to decarbonise 91²Ö¿â’s bus routes. It is estimated to save 91²Ö¿â upwards of 130 tonnes of carbon emissions a year. The routes themselves remain unchanged.
Speaking about the changes, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation and Sustainability Executive Lead Professor Dan Parsons said: “The introduction of a fully electric bus fleet is a tangible step in delivering 91²Ö¿â’s sustainability ambitions.
“By removing around 130 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, this change not only reduces our environmental footprint but also improves local air quality across campus, creating a healthier environment for students, staff, and visitors.
“It’s a strong example of how partnership-led, practical action can deliver real benefits for our whole University community. I want to thank the Sustainability and Procurement teams for their endeavours in making this a reality.”
